Research Fellowship Program

This prestigious, full-time program offers intelligence professionals the opportunity to conduct academically rigorous and innovative research on enduring or emerging issues of concern to policy and decisionmakers.

As a research fellow, you will benefit from a rich academic environment and access to a wide range of resources. The Ann Caracristi Institute for Intelligence Research’s Centers, research methodologists, and subject matter experts will provide guidance throughout your fellowship. To support your research, you may receive funding for travel and research.

Your Impact

This prestigious fellowship offers you an unparalleled opportunity to interact with Intelligence Community senior leaders on substantive issues. As part of your work, you are encouraged to discuss and share your research with your fellowship cohort, NIU faculty and students, the broader IC, and academia.

Your Work

Your fellowship will culminate in a peer-reviewed quality research monograph. You will also:

  • Publish an article with the National Intelligence Press
  • Orchestrate a research seminar
  • Present preliminary or final research findings
