Admission decisions are made by the NIU Admissions Committee.  Applicants are notified of decisions by mail.

Regular admission is offered to applicants who fully meet academic criteria as determined by the Admissions Committee and, as required, have secured a nomination from their parent organizations.

Conditional admission is offered to full-time MSSI/MSTI applicants who do not fully meet academic criteria but the Admissions Committee finds evidence which indicates success in graduate study is likely.
